SUZUKI SPORTBIKETRACKGEAR.COM’S ELENA MYERS FINISHES SEASON STRONG

October 7, 2012

NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 7, 2012) - Team Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com rider Elena Myers brought the 2012 AMA Pro SuperSport season to a well-earned and respectable close this past double header weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, LA. Myers raced her Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki GSX-R600 to fifth- and ninth-place finishes in Saturday and Sunday’s races, and finished the season third in the overall championship points in the AMA Pro SuperSport West Series.

Saturday’s 15-lap race saw Myers get a top-10 start on her Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki GSX-R600 and settle into position. After getting her bearings, the Californian simply picked off the competition and moved up through the field. With a few laps to go, she was in fifth place when a rider crashed and caused a red flag and the AMA stopped the race. On Sunday, Myers got another top-10 start and rode a smooth, conservative race to finish ninth.

“Overall I think it was a good weekend for me and for the Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com team,” said Myers. “Unfortunately, we had a little bit of bad luck and that cost me a possible podium finish on Saturday. But I felt strong all weekend and I feel like I’m in a good place with a couple of solid rides. Some of my strongest performances were in the last few rounds this year. The season just ended but I’m ready for next year. And I can’t thank everyone enough for being behind me this year and believing in me.”

Although Myers officially contested the AMA Pro SuperSport West Series, she raced every event. She started the year strong by capturing the win at one of the season-opening races at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL, and went on to pick up three top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes.
